Abstract

One way to instill character values ??is through educational activities. Currently, various Western cultural influences have penetrated Indonesia, as evidenced by various events in the world of education that degrade human dignity. One of the contributing factors is the decline in moral values ??in educational institutions. One effort that can be made to shape good student character is through extracurricular programs, especially poetry, which can help foster positive character in students. This study aims to describe how character education is implemented through poetry extracurricular activities, identify supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation, and explore the character values ??developed through this activity at MI Miftahul Ulum Pacet. This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The results of the study indicate that the values ??of character education in poetry extracurricular activities are implemented through various strategies, such as guidance, role models, habituation, and sanctions. Supporting factors for this activity include: (1) support from the school, (2) support from parents, and (3) student enthusiasm. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors include: (1) low student awareness of the importance of having good character, and (2) lack of student habits in implementing good character. Extracurricular poetry activities at MI Miftahul Ulum Pacet have succeeded in instilling various character education values ??in students, such as religious values, discipline, tolerance, hard work, responsibility, courage, and emotional management.
